Sometimes life doesn’t go as planned. Try and try as we may…we pray, we plan, we prepare, but still; our dreams fade, the road gets bumpy, and we end up in a mess on the floor crying over cookie butter ice cream. Luckily, that last part hasn’t quite happened yet, but I feel like it’s not too far off.
The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps. | Proverbs 16:9
Needless to say, the last couple months have been quite the adventure of ups and downs. I quit my job, got rid of half of my stuff, moved 1,000 miles away from my family and friends, traveled across the country…twice, visited 19 different states, lived in a dorm, climbed a few mountains, got way too many sunburns, learned how to wakeboard, floated down a river for the first time, ate ridiculous amounts of huckleberries & a whole lot more…all while interning at a nonprofit 40 hours/week.
Sounds like a pretty grand adventure, huh?
But the thing everyone forgets to tell us about adventure is, it stretches us. And usually, it isn’t very comfortable and it definitely doesn’t always end up like the movies tell us it will. Crazy thing is though, I haven’t regretted a single minute of these past few months. It’s been a wild ride…between planes, trains, cars, buses & boats, I’ve seen my fair share of the road and I am so thankful for the lessons learned, the friendships made and all the places traveled. This journey is far from over, but for now I’m putting down my feet, unpacking my bags and realizing that home is truly wherever you make it.
